So, when it comes to hiring them, it helps to talk to a company that understands where they’re coming from – or hoping to go to.
In fact, many people who aren’t familiar with the industry are surprised at how much the ability to be able to communicate well is every bit as important as an ability to read figures.
Because while it might be a numbers game it’s also very much a team sport. Where multiple stakeholders often need to pool their collective knowledge to solve complex issues.
And establishing and maintaining good relationships between people who often have significantly different levels of financial expertise, whether they are clients or non-finance staff, is critical to the outcome.
Unfortunately, soft skill capabilities, like communication, teamwork, and receptiveness to change, aren’t the kinds of things that you can take an exam in. And they’re notoriously difficult to determine from CVs and interviews.
This is why we developed our unique Drake P3 Personality Profiling System - which many consider to be the best workplace profiling system in the world.
But of course financial recruitment isn't just about finding the right kinds of personalities to fill roles.
In fact, this is something Drake’s been focused on in the recruitment industry for over 70 years since the company’s inception in Canada. You don’t survive that long by sitting still. You need to be constantly looking ahead.
But there is one thing that is unlikely to ever change, however AI gets at crunching numbers, business success will always be based on the unique talents of people - not machines.
So with that in mind, let us introduce the head of our finance division, Benita Hulme.
The future is exciting and hopefully we can be part of yours.

HEAD OF ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
One of the things I like most about my job: I feel like I’m genuinely ‘doing something’ when I’m able to put the right people together in the right place. Knowing that I might have played a small part in a positive future for them is pretty satisfying.
When I’m not at work: I like to get off-grid and spend my evenings looking up at the stars, with a glass of good wine, listening to the nightingales sing.

Noteworthy point: The sheer complexity of systems that will be built in the future could make it incredibly difficult to get to the root of what causes them to go wrong: cyber sabotage could become invisible, because it’s impossible to distinguish from normal problems.

Key takeaway: Auditors need to be aware of their clients’ use of Generative AI in their financial reporting and accounting, because of the significant potential risks.

What we found interesting: AI-powered tools use very complex algorithms and machine learning to analyse data and make decisions which can make it very difficult for humans to understand how and why these decisions have been made.
